Rockridge salons plan 'cut-a-thon'

http://www.insidebayarea.com/timesstar/localnews/ci_4676987 OAKLAND — Six Rockridge hair salons will participate in a "cut-a-thon" to raise money — and pony tails — for Locks of Love, a nonprofit organization that provides custom hair pieces to financially disadvantaged children who have lost their hair because of medical conditions. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, customers can get their hair cut in any style for a $50 minimum fee at Arellano, Bellissimo, Sahaira, Right Angle or Milagro salons, all on or near College Avenue in Oakland. And from 2 to 5 p.m. Monday, cuts for the cause will be available at Genray Salon on Claremont Avenue. All proceeds go to Locks of Love. Donations of pony tails of 10 inches or longer will be accepted. Locks of Love helps kids who have lost their hair regain self esteem and confidence when facing the world and their peers.
